How you know when you've made it big...

How to know when you've made it big... Scientific American, baby.

Aloha, dear readers,

We’re on schedule this week, and present you with Episode Six of The Multiverse podcast! We were joined by Karen from A View From the Top and Shut Up, We’re Talking podcasts, as well as the Journey’s With Jaye blog.

In honor of her stopping by, we decided to talk about guilds and what they mean to players and in the MMOs they’re a part of. We also talk a little bit about Everquest 2 and the upcoming battleground system. We decided to change up the usual host segments a little bit, so we also spent a little time talking about the changing definition of F2P and Ferrel’s recent trials with Blizzard, after they’d banned the account he’d just had restored and secured… for exploiting!

I think this is one of our best shows yet and we here would like to know what you think too. Give us your thoughts in a comment, iTunes review, or send us an email. We’d like to expand the show and can’t do it without your help, so join in and be a part of our crew!

Hi Everyone,

manchild2

The manchild

For your listening pleasure, we give you the day late Episode 5 of The Multiverse. We had a lot of fun recording this one but we went about it a little bit differently. Rather than highly editing everything, we approached it like we were live. Behind the scenes, these episodes usually take me about three hours to produce. This is our effort to cut that down to about an hour, so please let me know what you think and which way you prefer the show. I think it came out good.

Be sure to tune in after the ending music for a couple of bonus segments. During the first we talk about the Dante’s Inferno demo (well, to be fair, it’s mostly me gushing and trying to convince Ferrel to try it, but some funny stuff comes out of it). Second, we give you a sneak peak into what happens between the segments…

Oh, and about the title… well, you’ll have to listen to the bonus parts to get that, I guess. ;-)

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to Episode #3 of Riknas, Ferrel’s, and my pet project. We got together a little bit late this past week, so sorry about being a day late. This week, we talked about storytelling, immersion, and, yes, Epic Riknas. What is an Epic Riknas you might ask? Only the best up and coming MMO out there! Riknas Online is set to launch sometime in 2035, alongside Chris: The Final Frontier, a virtual reality version of the Oregon Trail. It’ll be a box set.

We were also happy to be joined by Ryan, writer here, and operator of our host, Vagary TV. Ryan’s currently a staff member on one MUD and the main developer for another, so he had an interesting perspective on how content gets presented to the player. Thanks for joining us, Ryan!

If you enjoyed the show, we’d love to hear about it in the comments or through an iTunes review (iTunes reviews will get honored on the show… *wink wink*). You can also feel free to contact us directly at multiversepodcast@gmail.com.

    • Patch 3.3 – anyone hear of this thing? I’m lost.

      • Epic Riknas – the fully Riknas themed MMO.

Hi Everybody,

Another two weeks, another episode of the Multiverse! This time, we went late night Cinemax on you. Thus, this is episode two: “Skinemax.” We had a lot of fun recording this episode and I think it shows. Editing went much quicker and I have more hosting lessons under my belt (darn my ever changing crutch word). See: shock collar.

We also changed up the music for this episode. We’re all around, as you’ll see in the notes.

I hope you enjoy it!

As always, send any questions, comments, suggestions to multiversepodcast@gmail.com. We’re also looking for guests. If you’re interested, email us there.

Here we go, our first effort at a podcast. I think it came out pretty well but I learned a few important lessons in the trying.

  • I shouldn’t talk so much

  • Don’t interrupt Ferrel so much

  • Editing out tangents takes a long time

Hehe. Anyways, I hope you enjoy it. We hung out and talked for a while after the show even, so we definitely had a good time making it. Our next recording date is December 4th and I can honestly say I’m looking forward to it.

Check out out Vagary page, linked below. Send any questions, comments, things you’d like us to talk about, or guest suggestions to Chris@gamebynight.com. We’d also love a review on iTunes, if you’re so inclined.

Enjoy!
