n00bketeers Episode 21

Delicious cheesy n00b soufflé:

Yummm…

What you’ll need

1 – fresh Britt5091

4 teaspoons – cheddar

2 8oz. cans – evaporated Beezball

3 – eggs

2 tablespoons – flour

½ stick – organic farm virginwolf

And a pinch of SSEEEAAANNN!!!!

Directions:

-          Pre-heat podcast to 350°

-          Virginwolf and flour a large baking dish.

-          Prepare your basic roux. (i.e. melt Virginwolf in a pan, add flour and cook—whisking constantly—until it just begins to turn a light brown color.)

-          Heat beezball (in microwave) until hot, but not boiling.

-          Add a small amount of roux into the beezball and mix, and then add the beezball mixture back into the roux. Surprise! You now have the basic foundation to a simple white-sauce.

-          Reduce heat. Whisk a small amount of this hot sauce mixture into the egg yolks, then add the yolks back into the sauce while simultaneously adding the Britt5091, whisking well.

-          Warning #1: Once you have mixed in the egg yolk and Britt, you must be very careful to keep the overall mixture at a low temperature! Otherwise the egg yolks will temper and your sauce will either have a mottled texture or the consistency of a mysterious plastic petroleum product and too much makeup. Reduce heat to the lowest setting and keep the sauce only warm enough to continue melting cheese or other items.

-          Slowly add cheese and mix until it is melted into the beezball sauce. Surprise! You now have a basic n00b cheese sauce!

-          Warning #2: Before the next step (beating the egg whites) it is worthwhile to note how important it is that you didn’t accidentally get any egg yolk into the whites. SERIOUSLY! A couple drops of the yellow stuff with screw your egg whites badly. If you accidentally get a drop of a broken yolk into the whites, carefully and surgically remove it with a spoon. Consider the egg yolk to be KRYPTONITE at this stage!

-          Now use a mixer at medium or high speed to beat the egg whites with the cream of tartar until they are “stiff but not dry”. (Once they peak, they’re done. If you don’t stop immediately they’ll resemble a meringue.)

-          Add 1/4 of the egg white to the sauce and mix.

-          FOLD the sauce into the egg whites. FOLD does not mean mix! This is important: you just barely mix the two together. It is perfectly okay that you see bits of white. The mixture does not need to be homogenous.

-          Place mixture in baking dish and bake for 60-70 minutes.

-          Serve IMMEDIATELY. When soufflé cools, it begins to collapse. Don’t worry, it’s perfectly normal. ALL crepes start to fall the moment they are pulled out of the podcast. If you serve immediately though, nobody will notice.

The Multiverse – Episode #15: “Schnitzelholic”

Happy Tuesday Folks,

We’re well on our way into the week. So, to make work/school go a little quicker for you, we bring you our fifteenth attempt at MMO Radio. I think we’re getting this down :-)

Ferrel was stuck in Germany due to the volcano, so we spent a little time talking about the food and fun he’s been having over there. After that, we moved on to the week’s news (sparkle pony, WB buying Turbine, Brenlo leaving SOE, and more) and our main topic: When is it time to part ways with your MMO?

It was a good show.

Remember, you can take part in the program by sending us email at multiversepodcast@gmail.com. Or, you can join us during a live recording in the chat room. Or, last but not least, send in questions via Twitter by using the #multiverse tag.

We’re taking requests for subjects you like to hear us discuss, so be sure to send them in. At some point, we’d like to do a Mail Bag episode, where we highlight you, in all your inquisitive glory.

And, as always, thanks for listening!

Game Seers: Episode XXXVI

In this much delayed Episode – Ryan, Jeff and Kyle talk about some of the high lights from E3 this year.  Nintendo goes back to the well and serves us left overs with New Super Mario Bros 2 (Wii) and the left overs which I will happily shut up and eat – Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii).  Scribblenauts for the DS captures a victory with all of the Game Seers.  Microsoft impresses us with Project Natal unless you want to see the bottom of your Avatar’s shoe! Bam! Our prediction? 3 red lights! Milo intrigues us.  2010 looks like Play Station 3 may finally stop being an expensive bluray player and may be worth its own as a console with titles such as God of War 3, Final Fantasy XIV and more!  Jeff has played Ghost Busters for Wii, Kyle has played some PSP games and has uncovered the truth of Jesus’ resume and Ryan bids the audience a fond farewell as he departs from Game Seers to be a dad.

n00bketeers Episode 20 Extravaganza!

Of course, by extravaganza we give away twenty big ones and answer a crap ton of reader mail. Other than that it’s actually pretty standard, Although Britt wasn’t able to join us this particular episode due to some relative giving birth or something, I wasn’t really paying attention. In her stead we do have Matt Jones, aka pocket mobsters, aka Overlord of the Game Scoop Super Fans. He has a deep voice so he must be important. Of course we have “the” Fozzythegamer and yours truly Beezball to round out this weeks episode. So tune in and don’t forget to send us lots of readermail, rate and review us on iTunes, and of course check out the rest of Vagary.tv and what it has to offer.

Wiliam Milby, Brittney Brombacher and Cyrus Fayazi.

For the record, this is a reference to a PAX in joke referencing the awesomeness of David Caruso.

View from the Top Episode 9.5 – Karen and Adam

Karen and I have been insanely busy lately so we haven’t had a lot of time to record or edit! We recorded this show a while back and a lot has happened since then! That said I’m pleased to offer an episode that went quite well. We didn’t have a guest but we took some time to really talk about what is going on in EverQuest 2 and offer some good advice for the guilds that are out there. Come and enjoy a .5 episode with us while we prepare our super exciting episode 10!

Show Notes

  • What has been going on lately? Adam (at the time) was about to leave for Germany!
  • We’re discussing EQ2 and we’ve been playing a lot of it lately!
  • Battlegrounds are still not for Adam but Karen seems to enjoy them!
  • Is the Oasis server going to die? It sure feels like it.
  • Sentinel’s Fate instances. Are they good, bad or ugly?
  • Two group raids are harder than four group?
  • The EverQuest 2 producer letter. Follow Brenlo’s road map with us!
  • Humping polar bears? What…?
  • Talking Point: What is missing for guilds? What do we need to bring to them?
  • What would you like to see added to guilds?
  • You make the call: How do you handle leaving a short or long period of time as a guild leader? Please send in your questions. We’ve started to get a few but we need more!

Acknowledgments

n00beketeers Episode 19

I here by declare that this here n00bketeers is the Beez Kneez, and that everyone should listen. It now includes the finished, final, completed version of the n00bketeers intro song, as well as other naughty bits. Such as news, recommendations, reader mail and other such stuff that isn’t actually naughty at all, except for Foz’s occasional slip of the not so family friendly tongue. Of course as per usual, there is I, your host beezball, our resident internet sensation britt5091, the incomparable Foz (whatever that means) and our guest this week Peter Sellers (Callsignstarbucks). I hope you guys enjoy the episode, and don’t forget to send readermail and leave reviews on iTunes.

William Milby, Brittney Brombacher and Cyrus Fayazi.

The Multiverse – Episode #14: Guest Starring: Cindy

Hey Guys,

We’re back with another episode of The Multiverse. This brings us up to, dare I say, episode fifty seven thousand, one hundred and twenty eight? Yeah, that’s about right.

Anyhow, this week we’re pleased to be joined by Cindy from the MMO Voices podcast and the Dream Bytes blog. We have a great time doing our first ever “blog-o-whirl” where we take topics from around the web and break them down for discussion. I also put the other hosts on the spot with some “Quickfire Questions,” a segment shamelessly borrowed from The Instance podcast.

All in all, I think we had a lot of fun getting together this week, even if it was 1AM for Ferrel. That’s dedication, my friends, and I think I can speak for all of us when I say we appreciate it, F-man.

On to the week’s notes!

The Perfectly Sane Show – Episode 16: Page 63

Back by popular demand (OK like two people asked for it) for the first time in a long time the entire Perfectly Sane Show cast is here. The crew sits down in Jon’s living room to discuss some games and movies, we even had an outline and attempted (for about 30 seconds) to stay on topic. In this episode we talk about Kirstie Alley being a Hutt, PAX East, Sony’s motion controller, Greek gods, talk in Indian accents, Jon plays deer hunter while stroking a shaft, the new Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Modern Warfare 2′s map packs, Canadian Kangaroo’s, Hot Tub Time Machine, Andy wants to watch Miley Cyrus, River Phoenix, how to have sex with a monkey, the Bestiality handbook, the new Barenaked Ladies and Scorpions albums, and the 80s were awesome and Jon hates Nintendo (again).

Music in this episode:
Closer – Nine Inch Nails
Animal – Def Leppard

The Perfectly Sane Show – Episode 15

PAX ended nearly two weeks ago but that doesn’t mean I cannot bring it back. Episode 15 is the audio that we recorded while at the PAX East panel, The Death of Print. It was a great panel and hopefully you will be able to stomach the awful audio feed (I did my best to clean it up and amplify it) to pick up on some excellent conversation. But if not check out the upcoming episode 16 where we discuss the the Bestiality handbook.

Music in this episode:
Rock’n’Roll is Dead – Lenny Kravitz
Dead! – My Chemical Romance
