Many people have been voicing their concerns with Nintendo’s lack of intent to localize many games for the Wii. What can be more of a slap in the face is when a game is localized in English but still isn’t available in the North American market.
Xenoblade Chronicles has been getting an overwhelmingly positive critical response for its Japanese release last year, but Nintendo still has no plans to release the game in North America. It does, however, plan to release an English version in Europe and Australia.
With many people complaining that there aren’t enough great JRPGs in the North American market — especially on Nintendo’s front — this can easily be seen as a poor choice on Nintendo’s part. To make the sting that much more realized, it’s been announced that the original release date set in September of this year has been bumped up to August 19th in Europe.
Why doesn’t Nintendo release the game in North America if it’s being lauded so, and its localization is going so swimmingly? It’s truly hard to say.
