As a media outlet, we here at Vagary get all kinds of requests to do interviews, sample things, and even review them. Sometimes these things are legitimate endeavors where an independent developer is looking to get any and all coverage that they can. And then sometimes we get stuff like Soda Drinker Pro sent to us.
Soda Drinker Pro is an FPS. No, not a first person shooter but rather a first person soda. What exactly is a first person soda game? Well in a manner of speaking it is a soda drinking simulation, complete with slurps and all. On some levels, I am not sure you can legitimately call what Soda Drinker Pro is a game but then again the same argument was just made about The Walking Dead, so… Game of the Year maybe?
Soda Drinker Pro offers its users five distinct levels to drink their sodas in. There are also bonus sodas and some astounding Microsoft Paint created graphics rudimentary geography all placed around the game level, which is small cube. Much like Journey and Flower, Soda Drinker Pro won’t be for everyone. In fact, I am pretty sure it won’t be for most people but there is a select group of people out there that will get a kick out of Soda Drinker Pro.
While it may seem absurd the game has been talked about on Wall Street Journal Digital and its creator is considering putting it up on Steam as a Greenlight Project, where he promises 100 new levels to drink soda in if it gets greenlit. I’m pretty sure I can spot him the dollar it costs me to get a soda in the break room so he can achieve his goal of having the most absurd game on Steam.
