Well, the holidays are over and 2012 is officially closed. Looking into the second week of 2013, it’s still slow but I think I speak for most of us here at Vagary that the peacefullness has been embraced fully. I have just been tinkering with some other hobbies (yes, I do more than write and play games) but it is time to slowly get back into the swing of things, which means “Coming to Stores” is back in full force. Thankfully there are a few noteable games coming out. So enjoy! ~ Don

- Tuesday, January 8 ~ Dance Magic
Platinum Games has a few gems under there belt. Bayonetta has a small cult following, and Mad World was one of the few third-party Nintendo Wii games that I thoroughly enjoyed when it released. The same studio behind those two is bringing m0re beat ’em up action to the consoles, but in a different way. Anarchy Reigns tosses you into an online environment where up to 16 players brawl for superiority in several game modes, including (but not limited to); Death Match, Capture the Flag, and Survival. After several delays, here’s hoping the first serious game of 2013 is a good one.
Everyone here likes a good dance session, right? Sadly, some of us prefer the violent games more, so we never get to enjoy showing off our fancy footwork. Dance Magic is here to save us, thankfully. Not only are you trying to outdance your opponent, but you are also battling them with (you guessed it) magic. Oh, 2013, how fantastic you are already proving to be.
- Tuesday, January 8 ~ Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable
This may appear odd, talking about a Vita game instead of a 3DS/DS game, but looking at both lineups, both are pretty embarrassing. But I digress, we have a Vita game to talk about! Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable is a remake of the 2009 Xbox 360 title, and adds some new content. It’s a third-person shooter with over 150(!!!) weapons to access, and spanning well over 50 missions (including some new ones). The original got positive reviews, so it’s nice to see the Vita getting something along these lines, even if it is a port with a few new additions.
