If you plan on heading to the theaters this week, specifically if you are looking for new fare, you may want to rethink. The only big release for the week is the abysmally reviewed Playing for Keeps, which stars a gaggle of beautiful women and Gerard Butler. But while this week seems less than interesting, the next three should make up for it with the stellar line-up of films coming.
Things look a touch better on the small screen with Arrow closing out before its Winter break and Last Resort closing out entirely. Arrow continues to impress week in and week out and Last Resort promises to tie up the loose ends for its small, but loyal, contingency of viewers.
On the Blu-Ray tip, we get Jeremy Renner, Mark Wahlberg and some broke girl friends. Renner stars in The Bourne Legacy, the fourth Bourne film, and first without Matt Damon in the lead. It’s not quite up to the standards of The Bourne Identity but it works as a serviceable action film and is, at least in my opinion, better than the two prior Bourne films. Wahlberg on the other hand stars in Ted, as an slacker whose best friend happens to be a crass talking teddy bear. If you aren’t a fan of Seth MacFarlane’s brand of humor you might want to stay away. And finally the first season of HBO’s sitcom about a group of girlfriends struggling to get their lives together in New York. If you haven’t already seen it, it is a great, great show, with smart funny writing putting the girls in some very real situations.
So what will you be watching this week?
