Highlights

The big one this week, Assassin’s Creed IIIsees a new hero for the first time in what seems like years. Well, it has been years, but I digress. The most important factor in my opinion is not the new hero, but the new setting. As much as I (and many others) loved skipping through Renaissance-era parts of Europe, a new setting was needed. Boy what a setting we got, too – America during the Revolutionary War. Oh, and naval combat? Color me curious…

Need for Speed: Most Wanted is a close number two. Criterion certainly has a following, as people I know who aren’t into the NFS franchise are whispering about how awesome Most Wanted is going to be. Open world racing, cops, no lobbies for multiplayer, Autolog, and almost every car unlocked from the start – need I say more?

Some big DLC also decided to drop this week. Sleeping Dogs gets its first dose of storyline DLC with Nightmare in North Point. Don’t worry though, while there are vampires and ghouls and other Halloween themed demonic baddies, there are no zombies. Darksiders II adds some new content too, in the form of a new area (Shadow Lands), new dungeons and new unique loot with the Abyssal Forge DLC. For those that are still deep into the multiplayer of Max Payne 3, a new map pack is available this week, too.

Okami HD is bound to get some love. This artistic Playstation 2 title finally makes it’s high-definition debut on the Playstation Network this week. One of the games I hear so much about, and have yet to play, it’s now made available for a new generation of gamers to appreciate.

  • Tuesday, October 30 ~ Lalaloopsy: Carnival of Friends (DS)

  • Tuesday, October 30 ~ Moshi Monsters: Moshlings Theme Park (DS)
  • Tuesday, October 30 ~ Thundercats (DS)

Highlights

Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask is more Professor Layton, but in 3D. 3D puzzles and a new story, that’s all that should be expected right? The DS gets a truck load of releases, but LEGO The Lord of the Rings would stand out as the “Hm, should I buy something for my DS this week?” title. LEGO games never cease to entertain me. I don’t like Star Wars, but loved the first few LEGO Star Wars games.

Wow, does the Vita get games this week (again)! Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation is not a port of the console version, instead being an all-new tale with a strong, female lead. This title should show off what the Vita is really capable of this year, and is on many Vita owners “buy list”. While Liberation is not a port, Need for Speed: Most Wanted on the Vita is a port. However, unlike past NFS titles on the handheld, it’s not a hand-me-down port done by another studio. Criterion is handling this one, and says the only difference in the Playstation 3 version and the Vita version is “a little less traffic, fewer online players, but added special events for the Vita”.

With that strong lineup of games coming this week, how much money are you spending and on what? Let us know in the comments below.

    Too many damn games!
NFS was really awesome at E3, I’m sure you’ll agree. I really want a way to play Okami, and Lego Lord of the Rings was awesome when I last played it.

Really, there are just too many games for me to afford in terms of money and time. I’ll pick my battles and just enrich my commute with some Assassin’s Creed: Liberation.

Target is doing a buy 2 get 1 free deal on all games. Might make choosing a little easier :)
