What to Watch – September 14th Edition

After a slight hiatus of anything worthwhile to talk about in this space What to Watch is back and we’ve expanded to more than just films in the theater. Now we’ll be talking television and Blue Ray releases as well. However, being as it is a Friday, let’s kick off with the the hot new theater releases of the week.

Resident Evil: Retribution is the fifth film installment in the popular Capcom survival horror/action hybrid series, Resident Evil. The series has not been watchable since the first installment but for some reason I am personally drawn to the theater every year to see the train wreck that it is. As such, expect a review of it sometime this weekend. Also hitting theaters today is the 3D re-release of Finding Nemo. Finding Nemo is going to cut into some of Resident Evil’s 3D screens so it will be interesting to see how the box office plays out.

While the big screen does not necessarily pack a lot of punch this week, the small screen more than makes up for it with the return of Boardwalk Empire and Bones and the premier of J.J. Abrams new show, Revolution. Expect of review of Revolution sometime next week and maybe Jeff’s reaction to Boardwalk Empire.

And if television series are not your thing, September 18th holds a stellar lineup. Headlined by Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures, a five disc set with all four theatrical Indiana Jones films packed in. Indy 4′s quality issues (for the record, I enjoyed it), this seems like a really solid set for fans. Expect a review sometime next week. Additionally if you are a horror fan there are three very notable releases coming to stores. The Cabin in the Woods, the breakaway hit from earlier this year finally hits BluRay as do Halloween II and Halloween III: Season of the Witch, both of which are coming in collector’s editions.

Lots of good stuff coming this week so, what will you be watching?
