Coming to Stores: September 11th Edition

The calm before the storm. We only have a few more weeks until we start to get bombarded with big game after big game. Though this is a rather slow week, there are still a few notable releases to be looked over. If you’re a Playstation Plus member, you’ll get a bonus freebie this week with Double Dragon Neon (releasing this week as well).. ~ Don

Please note dates are subject to change, and these do not account for digital releases, which can sometimes be as important as retail releases.

Console

Multi-platform:

  • Tuesday, September 11 ~ Battlefield 3 Premium Edition (PS3 & X360)
  • Tuesday, September 11 ~NHL 13 (PS3 & X360)
  • Tuesday, September 11 ~ Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (PS3 & X360)

If you have somehow managed to wait this long before picking up DICE’s last effort, you’re in luck. For the price of a new game ($59.99 USD), you can get Battlefield 3 Premium Edition. This includes the full Battlefield 3 game released last fall and a subscription for Battlefield Premium, alone a $50 value. This week also sees EA Sports’ yearly hockey release, NHL 13. It’ll be interesting to see if it’s a serious leap over the previous year like Madden, but it promises improved AI, an overhauled online mode and added animations to make NHL 13 look all-the-more real (EDITOR’S NOTE: if it is more real I wonder if my console will lock it out so I can’t play?). Fighting fans get the opportunity to pick up Tekken Tag Tournament 2 this week. With a robust roster of over 50 characters to pick between, Tag Tournament 2 delivers a ton more content than the previous game and adds a new mode, Fight Lab.

Handheld

(3)DS:

  • Tuesday, September 11 ~Finding Nemo: Escape to the Big Blue (3DS & DS)
Finding Nemo: Escape to the Big Blue is a collection of mini games set in the beloved Finding Nemo universe. As you earn tokens for winning the games, you (or your kids) can then spend them on designing an interactive reef. If your kids have a DS or 3DS, it will most likely keep them entertained for hours.
