Coming to Stores: August 14th Edition

Fall is beginning for gamers. The first big games of the season are starting to trickle in to beat the big rush later on, so there’s not much excuse to ignore either of these three if they interest you. We wrote previews for both at E3, and I can personally vouch that both games are worth the time and money. Now, you have some games to go buy.. ~ Don

Please note dates are subject to change, and these do not account for digital releases, which can sometimes be as important as retail releases. Don’s personal picks are highlighted in red.

Wii only:

  • Tuesday, August 14 ~ The Last Story

Nobuo Uematsu returns to compose music for the epic Wii-exclusive RPG, The Last Story. If that’s not enough, The Last Story is crafted by famed Final Fantasy creator, Hironobu Sakaguchi. Story aside, the most interesting part The Last Story is the introduction of co-op and versus modes online. Another game with an interesting mechanic added is Darksiders 2; to the myriad of other game mechanics, loot has been added to the mix. Instead of playing the hulking War character, you’ll play his more nimble brother, Death. The addition of loot to the series certainly has me more interested in the game than I already was.. which was a lot. Sleeping Dogs, originally titled True Crime: Hong Kong, gives you great hand-to-hand fighting, a good story and a giant sandbox to play in – all in one game. Look for that review on the site on launch day.
