What to Watch this Weekend – June 15th Edition

Adam Sandler, the king of low-brow, family friendly potty humor returns to theaters with That’s My Boy. Despite his films diminishing returns, it seems a summer cannot go by without him infecting the movie going public with his nonsensical brand of humor. The tag line for That’s My Boy is “The story of a child… and his son”, pretty much sums up the amount of depth the film will have. Unless you are looking to break up with your current loved one, I suggest skipping this film.

My pick of the week is probably not going to be for everyone but if you are a child of the 80s and remember the ridiculousness fondly, Rock of Ages may be for you. The cast is stellar, led by Tom Cruise basically playing a cross between Axl Rose and Brett Michaels. The music is fantastic, with selections by Journey, Guns N’ Roses, Def Leppard and Poison. And the hair is godly, oh so godly.
