The Wii U was Nintendo’s darling center of attention this past week. With a console launching soon, Mad Catz jumped on the opportunity to devise a few slick licensed products for the upcoming Wii U.
Starting with chargers, Mad Catz will be releasing two Power Up Charge Docks; one for the Game Pad and the other for two Wiimotes. The Game Pad charging dock allows you to still use the Game Pad, say, for camera functionality and the angle can be changed accordingly. The Wiimote charging stand also comes with silicon sleeves and two battery packs. If you purchase both units you can connect them back-to-back, which then allows you to place the Wii U console in the center to make a stylish, solitary unit. I only got to see early prototypes of both pieces of hardware, but the metal finish will be something you can have visible and will compliment your entertainment center.
To protect your Game Pad controller, they are also releasing a Flipstand Protective Cover. On top of shielding the touch screen from various dangers, you can flip the cover around and it acts as a stand (much like the charging station.)
The Kunai brand of headsets, which launch in August for the 3DS, Vita and Playstation 3, will also be making its way over to the Wii U when it makes its debut. Priced at $50 USD (the PS3 version will cost $60), this multi-functional headset will not only have excellent sound quality (it is a Tritton product after all) but will also be compatible with your MP3 player of choice via a .35mm headphone jack.
