What to Watch this Weekend – June 1st Edition

I was wrong last week about things picking up for releases, so if you were looking for a ton of new releases this week, you have come to the wrong place. Only one wide release is hitting theaters this week, Snow White and the Huntsman, and, if anything, it at least looks to be visually stunning. This is the second Snow White film in the past couple months and with the character being a major player on the hit television series, Once Upon a Time, there may be some slight overexposure of the classic character. That said, fans of Twilight will more than likely flock to see Kristen Stewart in the classic role. By default, this is my pick of the week.

However, if you happen to live in a market where one of the 86 screenings of Piranha 3DD are taking place and are up for some stupid horror fun, maybe try and see that instead. It is not being done by Alexander Aja, which is immensely disappointing as he has a great sense for horror and made the Piranha 3D into a ton of fun. But regardless what other film this summer is going to have the Hoff, Doc Brown, and killer prehistoric fish all in 3D? I’m going to seek it out and I hate 3D.

What are you seeing this weekend?
