Coming to Stores: March 13th Edition

While this week may pale in comparison to some, there are still some pretty good releases this week. Even the Wii gets some new love with another Mario (Party) title. Who doesn’t love that Italian plumber? I do wish the 3DS and Vita would see a little more love instead of one or two decent title this month, whereas the consoles are getting about a dozen decent-to-good releases this month. Oh well. Keep reading to see what’s on its way! ~ Don

Please note dates are subject to change, and these do not account for digital releases, which can sometimes be as important as retail releases. Don’s personal picks are highlighted in red.

Console

Multi-platform:

  • Tuesday, March 13 ~ Birds of Steel (PS3 & X360)
  • Tuesday, March 13 ~ FIFA Street (PS3 & X360)
  • Tuesday, March 13 ~ Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations (PS3 & X360)

Playstation 3 only:

  • Tuesday, March 13 ~ Tales of Graces f
  • Tuesday, March 13 ~ Yakuza: Dead Souls

Wii only:

  • Sunday, March 11 ~ Mario Party 9

This week’s (no, wait.. this month’s) award for “Longest and Most Ridiculous” title is Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations. Overhauling the online mode and adding new characters are just a few additions to the anime-turned-game series. EA Sports brings back their “Street” brand with FIFA Street. We get our first flying game of the year, Birds of Steel, which has an impressive rapsheet; 100 authentic planes and satellite imagery used for the environments are the two big ones to me. Playstation 3 gets some exclusive love with two games in opposite genres; Tales of Graces f , an epic RPG in the “Tales of” and another installment in the action-adventure franchise “Yakuza” with Yakuza: Dead Souls. Let’s not forget the lonesome Wii. Nintendo releases Mario Party 9, and adds boss battles to this bundle of mini-game goodness.

Handheld

Nintendo (3)DS:

  • Tuesday, March 13 ~ Planet Crashers (3DS)
  • Tuesday, March 13 ~ Silverlicious (DS)

DS owners don’t get anything serious, but if you have a young daughter who enjoys DS games, Silverlicious offers the opportunity to explore a world based on the Pinkilicious children’s books. But if you have a snazzy 3DS, you can get your hands on Planet Crashers for some multiplayer action fun. From the videos I saw, it looks like a cute little fighting game for all ages.

Sony Playstation Vita

  • Tuesday, March 13 ~ Reality Figthers
  • Tuesday, March 13 ~ Ridge Racer

Reality Fighters takes the fighting genre and puts the fight right in front of you. Literally. An interesting concept that I am interested in seeing, it uses the back-camera and augmented reality to capture your environment to fight on. And if Asphalt: Injection (read our review here) didn’t feed your arcade racing hunger, check out Ridge Racer, Namco’s signature racing game. It brings more futuristic cars, though from what I have seen on showroom floors are looking more and more similar to these, and fast paced action to the still-new handheld.

With that in mind, what do you plan on picking up stores this week? Let us know in the comments below! :)
