3DS sales surge while PSVita idles in Japan

A 3DS purchase uptick in Japan propels it to the top spot in overall hardware sales.

The 3DS is looking like a champ in the week ending Feb. 19, taking top spot in hardware sales with 94,667 units sold, up from 67,558 in the previous week, according to data from Media Crate reported by Andriasang.

The cause of the uptick is believed to be related to Konami love simulator ‘Love Plus,’ which took top spot in the software charts with 104,969 sold.

This kicks a bit of dirt in the rival PSVita’s eyes as its sales dipped slightly from 13,939 to 12,309. This puts Sony’s newest handheld below both the PS3 and the PSP to settle at fourth place.
