Square Enix revealed today that they plan to expand in Montreal, Canada alongside Eidos Montreal creators of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Square Enix Montreal, the new studio will open up sometime in 2012 and will produce 150 jobs. The studio first project will be an unannounced game for the Hitman franchise.
CEO of Square Enix Yoichi Wada said, “Montreal is a vibrant centre of game creators with industry-leading talent, and one of the most important bases of our global network of game development within the Square Enix Group.”
Square Enix Europe CEO Phil Rogers adds, “We believe in creating studios where passion for our games and gaming runs throughout and Eidos-Montreal is testament to this vision.”
He continues, “The startup of a second studio brings a huge advantage to our business; we will nurture two separate studios with their own strengths, culture and appeal.”
Alongside the expansion, Sqaure Enix also announced that they are expanding Eidos Montreal to add another 100 jobs. The studio is hard at work on an announced third game alongside the next installments of Deus Ex and Thief franchises.
