Even though most of you are be busy with Skyrim, 38 Studios released a video detailing the destiny system and just how exactly does fate play a role in their upcoming open-world RPG, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. They revealed destiny cards started off as just titles that provided minor buffs and over time they became more and more powerful replacing their class system.
Destiny Cards provide you with unique buffs tailored to your playstyle and are unlocked depending on how you level up your character. For example if you choose to progress exclusively down the warrior path. You would unlock the Warlord destiny card that grants the ability, Last Stand so that when you die, you get back up and if you manage to kill the enemy that killed you in a certain amount of time, you gain your life back and you can keep on going.
If you have been following the game at all, you would know that the world they created everyone has a specific destiny. The player dies at the start of the game is revived through the Well of Souls. The player becomes fateless and can influence the world around them. Throughout the game, you will make decisions that will change the game as well as, earning Twist of Fate cards that grants you additional bonus based on their decisions.
The goals of these systems are to let the player know they have a significant influence of the world. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning will be released for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on February 7, 2012.
