Originally, Valve had plan to do an extensive beta test for their upcoming strategy game, DOTA 2. They wanted to build out new features and add new champions until it was on parity with the original DOTA, but things have changed. In a blog post today, Valve stated due to all the feedback they received from the International tournament and DOTA 2 beta leaks, people just wanted to play the game.
So, the new plan moving forward, is that they will take the current version of the game, polish it up and release it. During that time however, the game beta will still be at an invite-only level, but they will no longer be a NDA. The players will be able to post screenshots, movies, livestreams, guides, and so on.
Be sure to check out the Dota 2 blog, as they promise more routine updates regarding the game in the near future.
