Crytek Developing Next Homefront Game

While the first Homefront game was received with mixed reviews (metacritic 7.0 for PS3), many agreed it had potential. With Homefront Developer Kaos Studios being closed, those fans may have thought the series wouldn’t see a sequel.

THQ announced today that the sequel in the Homefront series will, in fact, be developed by Crysis developer Crytek. Though nothing has been shown of the new Homefront game as of this writing and the game isn’t set to release until fiscal 2014, it still stands to give players who enjoyed the first Homefront game something to look forward to.

“Homefront’s unique setting and storyline captivated gamers the world over. With Crytek’s industry leading technology and legendary experience in the FPS genre, we’re supremely confident that the next Homefront will deliver that AAA-quality experience that players demand,” said Danny Bilson, executive vice president at THQ.

Knowing a sequel is in the works, are you excited to see what Crytek is going to deliver? Do you think it will be received better than Kao Studios’ introduction to the IP? Let us know in the comments.
