Gamescom 2011: Borderlands 2 to Have Online Split-Screen

Today seems to be the day for split-screen announcements; opposite of DICE’s decision to opt out of the split-screen function, Gearbox has made it official that not only will split-screen be a returning part of Borderlands 2 but you will now be able to play online while playing with a friend locally, Gearbox’s Steve Gibson told Joystiq in an interview during Gamescom.

“The only situation you can not do is split-screen plus split-screen because you need a host,” Gibson said. “And a split-screen guy uses a lot of CPU, so he can not be the host.”

So there you have it; Borderlands 2 will give you even more ways to connect with your friends on your loot-gathering quest.
