In a report by Eurogamer, Noah Heller, a developer for Beachhead Studios who works on the Call of Duty Elite service announced that Modern Warfare 3 will support dedicated servers for the PC version of the game. Despite concerns about players abusing the system, Infinity Ward decided to include them whereas before they ditched the system with the firm belief they could provide a better experience without it with Modern Warfare 2.
“And of course we’re working really hard right now on the customised version of Elite for the PC [versions of Call of Duty games], because it’s an open platform and has some challenges.”
They are also working on many unique features to build out the Elite experience including creating a tablet, smartphone, console and web apps of the service.
“So right there on PS3 and 360 you can jump out of the game into the app and communicate with your clan or do whatever you need to do before running back into the game.”
Modern Warfare 3 is set to launch November 8 on the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
